Rainy day

Today was a very rainy one and miserable if you had to be outside.  We have a lake in our front yard almost reaching the house!  Thank goodness the sump pump is working well or we would be floating away.  Water under the door and in the basement but not too bad.  Nothing a few towels didn't handle.  Wet dogs every time they go out and Kaiya still wants to chase the silly ball!
Good news, the dog grooming is picking up and I am staying very busy there.  Still working on my crochet, another afghan and a knitting new sweater for Ethan.  The knitting doesn't go quite as quickly because I   lose count on the stitches ...opps.
Need to get some extra sleep tonight , this damp weather bothers me in the mornings.....thats all for now.

Project progress

Thanks to the ice storm I missed a day of grooming and sadly it's still very slow.  The good news is I have managed to clean house a bit and have had a lot of free time to work on my yarn projects.  The sweater for little Ethan may turn out to be a bit big now but after seeing that boy eat , I know he'll be in it very soon.

I have the front and back finished and sewn at the shoulder seams, and one sleeve finished. One more sleeve and the hood and it will be all but done!!  Hope he  (and his Mom!) like it because it has been fun working on it.
I also am working on an afghan for a friend.  Crochet this time, and it is coming along nicely. I love crocheting while watching TV, I can keep warm with it in my lap!!

Slow day today...

This month is bad for my job, not too many people getting out to have their doggies groomed.  I am on a brighter note, getting started slowly on a little spring cleaning.... hopefully with the goal of painting my kitchen and unfortunately calling a plumber for the pipes upstairs...boo.
I have almost finished the afghan for Abby Byrwa and am excited to start something new.  Going to knit a sweater for my favorite buy and even if its a little big for now I know he will grow.  Like to keep busy and it is a wonderful stress reliever.

Hurray!!  The afghan is complete.  I think it turned out well and I sure hope Abby likes it!

Dedication

Yesterday morning I went to church for the first time in a very long time.  Young Mr. Ethan was going to be dedicated, and needed to be there.  I was overwhelmed by the wonderful people there, so friendly and warm.  I felt right at home, and it was a very good feeling.  Ethan arrived a bit late, Dad overslept, but was a trooper as always, and looked very handsome in his dress shirt, tie and vest.
I also had one of those "proud mom" moments as I watched my beautiful daughter singing with the church musical group.  She was amazing  and her Grandma Betty would have been equally as proud.
Thoroughly enjoyable day  and of course always good to be with family and friends.

A very snowy day

Spent most of the day going from window to window in awe of the rate of the snowfall.  The dogs wanted out all the time and loved chasing each other in the deep snow.  Spent a little over an hour clearing the driveway and cars, it was about 6 inches deep and pretty darn heavy!!
Tired this evening, and headed to bed with a good book and a bowl of ice cream.

A very productive day

Another slow day in the grooming business, so I was home today. January and even sometimes into February it can be very slow.  Bad weather, too much holiday spending or just the winter "I don't want to go out unless I have to!" blues.  Finally got out the afghan I started back in the fall as a Christmas gift for Rob and Abi.  Got all the squares sewed together, finished the edging and .....Voila!  it is done!!

I am also working on another one that should be finished by the weekend.  Crochet is a good stress reliever and it's always nice to have a warm piece of needlework in your lap when it's cold outside.
Made the obligatory run to the store before the "white death" arrives tomorrow.  Supposed to be the worst storm of the season  so far, but they said that the last storm we had...   Bring it on!!  I am ready, and yes, I will be out shoveling if we get the expected 4 to 7 inches.
